Encore is committed to providing services to our students the best that we can during our school closures. The school and it's offices will remain closed for the remainder of the school year. This date could change as the federal, state, and local agencies prescribe what is best for our neighbors, our students, our staff, and ourselves. Thank you for your consideration during this unprecedented time.
Thank you for your support of your children and of Encore High Schools during this time.
Each day, there are automatic helps available to every single student of Encore. During the time that the school is closed, Encore is offering Distance Enrichment Education. Students with specific needs can electively choose to take part or not to take part in this elective enrichment. No student is going to be penalized for not taking part in any of the enrichment offered, HOWEVER, students can use this time to improve their grades and keep their brains stimulated.
On www.encorestudent.com there are listings of every enrichment class that is being offered over the course of the week. These classes will be offered through Zoom. The classes will also be recorded, so students can go over the instruction more than one time in the event that they need the repetition. Academic teachers also have tutoring available in the mornings and email/remind responses in the afternoon from 2 - 3pm.
Counseling and general remediation is also available throughout the week live. On the encorestudent.com website, click on "Resources Live!" to see what remediations and special classes are available during the week.
In order to insure student success, Encore is committed to providing additional helps for our special populations during our time of school closures. This includes:
Small group tutoring using Zoom
One on One tutoring using Google
Printed work delivered to your doorstep
Remediation Games to help build skills
On campus one on one training for technology
Since Encore is closed for the school year - all students are invited to take advantage of the time to make up incomplete assignments, work on special skills, and complete work for extra credit.
The following schedule is when Encore's Student Services Aides will be working LIVE to help students that log on to complete the enrichment assignment given by the general education teachers each week. Students can watch the teacher lecture LIVE or recorded based on when these live tutoring sessions will be available. These session will offer step by step instruction on how to complete the enrichment assignments. Mondays and Thursdays will offer help to Grades 7, 9, and 10. Tuesdays and Fridays will offer help to Grades 8, 11, and 12. STUDENT SERVICES LIVE SESSIONS WILL GO LIVE ON THURSDAY, APRIL 2, 2020.
ADDITIONAL SUPPORT SERVICES OFFERED
Encore's student services department is dedicated to serving the needs of our special populations. The above schedule show one of the accomodations that are being offered during our school closure. In addition to this daily tutoring help, Encore will also be offering the following help to all of our SPED students.
IEP MEETINGS - Our SPED teachers will be scheduling any IEPs that are needed during this time of closure using the technology Zoom. To check on your IEP appointments during this time, please email our Student Services Secretary, Angela Hampton at firstname.lastname@example.org. She will be able to point you in the right direction.
TECHNOLOGY TRAINING - If your student requires in person training on how to use Zoom or Google Meets, please email Jennifer Gutierrez at email@example.com. She will work with you and IT to schedule an in person appointment for this training. This training will require the student to be on campus and will take about 1 hour. Parents are asked to stay with their student during this training so the whole family can learn together.
ADDITIONAL TUTORING - Every day there are tutoring sessions available with Encore's general education teachers from 8:00 - 8:45 am on Zoom. Students are welcome to log on to those. Every other day, Encore's SPED Aides will cover the enrichment assignments in a Zoom lesson to help students complete their work. When you log on to encorestudent.com and click on the Resources LIVE button, there is tutoring specifically for math strategies and English strategies. Students can rewatch lectures from general ed teachers after they happen. Students can also email their gen ed teachers for specific responses to questions where teachers will respond between 2 and 3 every school day. If your student requires additional help beyone these online tutoring, additional small group and limited one to one tutoring may be available by emailing for a scheduled appointment. You can get in on an appointment that will be later in the week by emailing Jennifer Gutierrez at firstname.lastname@example.org. When you email, please specify what help you are looking for. Similar questions will be grouped up and SPED Aides will work with small groups on specific questions once the groups are linked up.
CONTRACT SERVICES - Encore is working closely with SELPA to make sure that our students are still receiving whatever services are still provided when much of the state is closed. If you have been designated contract services in your IEP, Encore's SPED department will work directly with you and SELPA to make sure that you still get the help that you need.
PRINTED WORK - In some cases (based on your IEP) Encore will bring printed versions of the enrichment assignments to your home. These assignments will be placed on your doorstep and will be dropped off once a week. If you are interested in this type of service, please contact email@example.com.
